Self-destroying drawing machine
A black and white photograph of artist Jean Tinguely, who stands behind his self-destroying drawing machine, designed and constructed in collaboration with engineers Billy Klüver and Harold Hodges, at the beginning of its operation. The event, titled Homage to New York, took place March 17, 1960, in the sculpture garden at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The machine is a massive, multi-part contraption build out of numerous spoked wheels of different sizes connected by tubes and wires atop an upright piano.
