Fig. 2 Creation Myth install view_small
A photo of Jason Rhoades’s installation artwork entitled “The Creation Myth”, from 2013, installed at the Institute of Contemporary Art University of Pennsylvania. Captured from above, presumably from a balcony or window on a higher floor, the center of an interior space with white walls and grey concrete floors is filled with a networked system of machines, tools, projectors, games, and other consumer electronics that are shaped into an oval in the center of the room. Numerous lamps, tv screens, sheets of cardboard and folding tables are piled up to make up the structure, which is bordered by a large red exhaust pipe. Paint cans and shredded paper liter the floor, and tall rolls of collaged paper lean against the surrounding walls.
