Summertime in Italy No. 28
An abstract painting from 1962 titled “Summertime in Italy No. 28” by artist Robert Motherwell. Set against an ochre background, a periwinkle blue triangular form sits atop three horizontal stripes of salmon pink and white. In all sections, the paint is applied in a thin layer and the brushstrokes are visible, giving the overall composition an unfinished look. Toward the bottom, under the middle pink stripe, “R. Motherwell 62” has been handwritten in pencil.
