Installation view of Exploratory Works: Drawings from the Department of Tropical Research Field Expeditions

Installation view of “Exploratory Works: Drawings from the Department of Tropical Research Field Expeditions” by artist Mark Dion at The Drawing Center. In a large, brightly lit room with white walls and light oak floors, a long wall is shown straight on. 44 drawings of various sizes — all rectangular and all in white, wooden frames — are installed gallery-style, clustered in groups by subject matter or size. The content of the images is difficult to discern, but some are obvious as fish, crabs, and other unknown sea creatures.
