Dara Birnbaum, “PM Magazine”

An installation photo of artist Dara Birnbaum’s multimedia artwork “PM Magazine” (1982) from 2018 at the Museum of Modern Art. In an art gallery with light wood floors, two partial walls face each other; one is painted bright red, the other intense blue. Each wall is outfitted with a metal scaffold that protrudes from the surface that has a black and white chromogenic print on it. Each print has television monitors inset into its surface, and the electronic equipment running the monitors is affixed to the wall behind the scaffold. A large white column separates the walls in the image.
