Dara Birnbaum, Damnation of Faust

A still of artist Dara Birnbaum’s video entitled “Damnation of Faust”, from 1983. At the center, two light-skinned figures are on a set of swings in a playground, swinging in opposite directions. Their arms are lifted, holding the chains of the swing, and their legs kick out in the front of them. The image is very blurry, bordered with a thin yellow stripe and a bluish background pattern of chainlink fencing.
