Shigeko Kubota, Video Curator Diary

Shigeko Kubota, Video Curator Diary

A still from artist Shigeko Kubota’s 1974 video, “Video Curator Diary.” The scene shows Kubota, at center, seated in a director’s chair with a black binder in her proper left hand. She is a light-skinned woman with black, wavy hair; she wears a purple outfit, complete with a purple-and-white polka dot scarf and blue train conductor hat. She smiles, and gestures with her proper right hand toward a male child seated beside her. In addition two the child, Kubota is flanked by two adult women, who are also smiling. Both have dark hair; one wears a bright yellow shirt and denim jeans, and the other wears a pink top with brown pants, and holds a microphone.
