Shirin Neshat, Passage, original scan

Shirin Neshat, Passage, original scan

A still from the full-frame film version of artist Sherin Neshat’s film “Passage”. A desert scene reveals a young girl in the foreground, back to the camera, kneeling behind a tall mound of stones. A long unbroken line of yellow flames stretches away from her toward the horizon, curling around two separate groups of figures all clad in black. One group, at center, is huddled on the ground, while the group to the right stands in a procession. The ground is rocky and uneven, and the sky is hazy from the smoke. Everything has a yellow tint.
