Save Calder Circus press campaign, May 5, 1982.

A black and white photograph of Flora Miller (Irving) Biddle riding Targa the elephant as part of the Save Calder Circus press campaign in front of the Whitney Museum on May 5, 1982. Flora, a light-skinned woman with short hair, smiles and waves from her seat on the trunk of an elephant. Below her and the elephant’s open mouth stand a number of people, including two clowns, and children holding balloons.
