Nan Goldin, “Christmas at The Other Side”

A black and white photograph taken by artist Nan Goldin in 1973 titled “Christmas at the Other Side.” A light-skinned person dressed in a black dress, gloves, and beret, and a multi-strand pearl necklace stands to the right, and is shown in profile from the chest up. The figure holds a lit match up to a nearly life-size illustration, on the left, of a dapper gentleman in a suit smoking a cigarette, as though offering the man a light. Fake smoke billows in the drawing, swirling around both of their heads.
