Frank Stella_Raft of the Medusa Part I_1990

A photo of Frank Stella's "Raft of the Medusa (Part I)", from 1990

A photo of a sculpture made of
aluminum and steel by artist Frank Stella called “Raft of the Medusa (Part I)”, from 1990. In a room with white textured walls and brick floors, a silver amorphous structure made of lace-like sheets of metal seems to collapse and curl over on itself. The central metal form is held aloft by a darker bronze-colored rectangular grid with a sort of kick-stand leg jutting out of the lefthand side.
