Common Field Clay

A photo of Chris Kallmyer's 2015 Common Field Clay performance

A photo of Chris Kallmyer’s Common Field Clay performance at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation in 2015. In a large room with bright white walls and beige floors, two light-skinned men wearing glasses and dark clothing sit on the floor behind low lintels of white wood. Along each lintel hangs a variety of clay bells and cones, below which numerous different bowls sits on the floor. The men appear to be either painting or “playing” the bells like an instrument.
